ronani and i went to see a showing of the movie Them saturday. it's an old 50s horror flick about giant ants. i, all in all, enjoyed it. yeah. it was boring in parts... but then it also managed to be absolutely hilarious.
afterwards we went out to eat indian food. good times. yum. mango lassi is my weakness.
oh.
and i got these magnets that are so strong... that they stick to my ear when i hold my nail clippers behind it. too bad i can't fix it so that i could let go of the nail clippers too. blast. do you think that having a magnetic field like that running through my ear lobe is unhealthy? questions...

well!
my first pair of t-shirt undies is FINISHED!... sort of. i like them as is, but they really do need a bit of elastic around the little leg hole bits. i don't have an elastic threader (read: safety pin) that is small enough to fit through the little space. i may just leave these undies as they are and say i've learned my lesson for the next pair.
what did i make?
DFSA 2001 undies. for those of you not in the know, DFSA is the drug free student association, the club i was involved in while in college. the front has this little stick figure with shaggy hair, which i made be upside down. because i'm perverse and thought it would be funny to have the figure's hair be at my hairpie. you see the logic. i know you do.
yup.
it's definately bedtime though.
oh, and steph brought it up in her journal, but i will just remind you all: it is actually healthier for girls to sleep at night with no undies (or other constrictive clothing) on. it gives the lil miss a much needed breather, and actually helps to prevent yeast infections.
good thing i just sleep nekkid.

a little while back, i was in my 3D Design class, and we had to go find a spot out on the quad that "felt right" so i placed myself on a rock out on the far end. i pulled the book Et Tu Babe, by Mark Leynard out of my pocket and started to read. when we were called back to meet and talk, i walked back, putting the book back into my bag as i went. one of my classmates commented in a sort of bemused tone "you read?!" "i'm literate!" i replied "amazing, no?" "i just don't know many people who actually read for fun."
i think that's kind of pathetic.
i'm currently reading A Heartbreaking Work of Staggering Genius by Dave Eggers. and so far... it is fucking amazing. it's part of the reason i haven't been online much lately. too engrossed in book reading.
saturday was a strange evening... for reasons i'll refrain from going into on this electronic wonder. but we'll just say that there has never been a more ironic situation surrounding a game of girl talk, EVER! "guys don't understand that girls talk to eachother." well, all guys that read my journal. all... um. one and a half of you... know this. know this well. a girls allegiance to her close friends is stronger than her allegiance to some guy that did her wrong. logical, no?
memorial day was nice. emily and natalie and the daugie came. and it was a lovely time. we played balderdash, which is just a great great game to play with a bunch of intelligent, well spoken people. consequently, however, i lost. the conversation was great. the company was lovely. emily and natalie are two of my most favoritest people ever.
when we got back to my place we watched the movie Twin Falls Idaho, as it had just arrived to my house. it's an amazing movie. i highly recommend it. although it has moments of humor, in the end it left us all feeling rather quiet, contemplative, and a bit sad. a wonderful movie, none the less.
today i've just felt impeccably lethargic. i've done precicely bunk. although i did make my bed.

well. an end to a lovely graduation day.
as i said before, i walked with natalie, which made the whole thing quite nice, rather than as boring as it could have been. we just poked at eachother and quietly joked around. UNTIL, of course, our main speaker Les Payne (of newsweek) got to the podium. he, i must say, is a well spoken man of wonderful politics. i'm inspired to learn more about him. quite the liberal wonderment, that man. he should be president. *beams*.
dinner was wonderful. beef tenderloin (i'm an appologetic non-vegetarian...), spinach salad, sweet potato/newpotato/onion dish, parmesan zuccini, etc, with banana cream pie for desert. dericious!
i was given graduation gifts from my generous family and friend ronn. this leaves linda with the ani difranco "evolve" album as well as a sondre lerche album (ronn got me a gift certificate at borders books and music, which we went out to redeem this evening after din din), and money towards the "get linda a car fund." i'd say that this makes me very happy... but then i remember that material objects and money do not bring happiness... so i correct myself and say "this pleases me!"
now if only i could get a JOB. a job would be good right now. but the job market sucks pooface. i desperately hope that i get a callback from shop rite. they need a deli worker! i have 2 years experience working in a deli! HIRE ME YOU FOOLS! heh.
i feel like i have so much more to say... but i don't think i really do.
my mind is buzzing nonetheless.

natalie is going to give me lessons in assertion. no longer will i be walked upon! no longer will i say "oh... no, it's okay" even if someone has done something that really bothers me. i'm always afraid of imposing on people. well i'm going to fucking impose. hear me roar, goddamnit.

10:38 pm - updates
|
so. last night sarah came over for my little birthday/mother's day dinner thingy. and it was yum. and then augie came over and we went to see the movie Anger Management... which sucked balls. i think augie was actually angry with me for inviting him to come or something... or maybe he was just tired. not sure. weird moments in time. when we got back he brought in all the leftover clothes from when he was selling them at wesleyan, and it was like a tupperwear party... but with vintage clothes. sarah bought a shirt and shorts. then, when sarah was supposed to head home... her car wouldn't start. so she had to spend the night, and concequently missed her final (oooops). this morning she tried her car again, still didn't work. so we went to the mall and documented our excursion on film.
